Teacher Layoffs in Ludington

The Mason County Press reports that Seven Ludington school teachers are being laid off.

In a special meeting held this morning, the Ludington Board of Education, decided to let go of seven teachers in order to save money for the upcoming school year budget. The district needs to cut $900,000 from the 2013-2014 budget and these layoffs will save $340,000, which can be used for savings and teacher raises. Interim Superintendent David Killips, said the layoffs were based on evaluation, not seniority.
