Baby Kate Search

Mason County is preparing for a wide-spread plant search in relation to the Baby Kate case.

A team of scientists from MSU, UofM and Chicago's Field Museum have been exploring areas around the county the past two days for soil and plant material that match the ones found on Kate's father, Sean Phillips, shoe. The point is to narrow the search planned for the 28th and 29th, this month. The specific site has not been revealed. Last year, Phillips was sentenced to prison for 10 to 15 years for unlawful imprisonment. In September, a letter came to light which was said to be written by Phillips to Kate's mother admitting he accidentally killed their daughter but placed her in a "peaceful place". Police are looking for that place. Last week, MOM news told you that several people were subpoenaed to be questioned under oath by prosecuting attorney Paul Spaniola.
