Hunting & Fishing License Fees

Hunting and fishing license fees will be increased. The House approved a bill yesterday which would raise these fees in the state.

This increase is expected to generate an additional $20 million which will allow the Department of Natural Resources to hire more officers and make other improvements. Under the new bill, the base hunting license will cost $10 plus a fee for the specific animal. For example, a deer hunting license right now costs $15 but will soon be raised to $30, $10 for the base license plus a $20 deer license. In regards to fishing, the new bill will allow all species to be fished and will be increased from $15 to $25. Bridge Magazine reports that Michigan's current hunting and fishing fees are among the lowest in the country.
