Pentwater Police Department Warns to Look Out for Phone Scammers

The Pentwater Police Department has received a report of a telephone scam involving subjects who identified themselves over the phone as members of the Department. The caller ID shows the Pentwater Police Department.

The call identifies themselves as an officer of the Pentwater Police and then tells the caller that the Department has a warrant for their arrest. The caller was told to contact the Department attorney to work things out and given a phone number and a docket number. These numbers are false. The caller said they would call back in 24 hours to make sure the warrant had been taken care of. The Pentwater Police Department does not accept money over the phone to "work things out". This is a scam. If you receive one of these calls do not give any personal or financial information to the call. People receiving these calls should report the contact to their local law enforcement agency.
