Last Friday, MOM news was the first to tell you that Wally Cain had filed for a recount in the 5th ward of Ludington. He’s challenging Angela Serna’s 4 vote win for the seat on the Ludington city council. Mason County Clerk Cheryl Kelly says the recount cannot take place before November 26th. That’s because the state canvassing board must first meet and certify the results from the November 6th election for the entire State. Clerk Kelly estimates the local cost, she hopes, to not be more than $1000. This cost would include the wages for the four-members of the County canvassing board; in addition to the costs of the election inspectors—one from each political party—who will be there to perform the duties of the recount. The final results of the 5th ward Election will not likely be decided until well into December after the recount has been performed.
