On WednesdayJanuary 3rd, deputies with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office were contacted by members of the Bay City Texas Police Department regarding a wanted fugitive from Texas that was believed to be in the Mason County area.
On Thursday, January 4th at 12:37 PM deputies spotted the suspect vehicle traveling on US-10 in the area of Meyers Road. A “felony” stop was conducted on the vehicle after learning the wanted person may have been armed with a handgun. No handgun was found.
A 27 year-old Van Vleck TX man was arrested without incident. He is currently being held in the Mason County Jail on a local charge of Furnishing False Information to a Police Office. He is also wanted out of Texas on: 2 count warrant charging Aggravated Robbery, Family Violence, Unlawful Restraint and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Once the local charge is cleared extradition proceedings will begin to return the individual back to the authorities in Texas.
