The Friends of the Ludington state park are raising  $200,000 needed to build an accessible and family-friendly playground at the Hamlin beach picnic area of Ludington State Park and are asking for your help. A video presentation of the new playground was created by GameTime, the manufacturer of the equipment.

Those who wish to donate to the project, can now do so with the Community Foundation for Mason County at  www.mason-foundation.org.The Friends of Ludington State Park seeks to raise $200,000 for the playground which will feature areas for ages 2-5 and ages 5-12. Friends of Ludington State Park has committed $30,000 towards the project and has been informed by the Michigan DNR Parks Division it intends to provide a match of about that amount. If the remaining funds are raised by late winter, construction would take place in June, of next year, using volunteers to keep costs low. Included in the $200,000 amount, is a maintenance fund to cover the cost of future repairs and maintenance.
