Parade Entry Deadline Pushed Back

The entry deadline for the 2015 Freedom Festival Grand Parade is now until Wednesday, June 24th. The parade will be held on Saturday, the Fourth of July at 2 p.m. in downtown Ludington. Visit the Ludington Area Jaycees website at for Grand Parade Entry Forms.

The Ludington Area Jaycees are also seeking additional sponsors for the 2015 Freedom Festival Fireworks Display.

The Freedom Festival fireworks display will be held on the Fourth of July at dusk at Stearns Park Beach in Ludington. In the event of inclement weather on Independence Day, the fireworks display will be held on the Fifth of July.


Little River Casino Expands for Better Accomodations

Mlive reports The Little River Casino Resort is now working on an expansion that will include a pool and spa.

The expansion in Manistee will include restaurant offerings, a new pool area and full service spa, and some remodeling of other public areas, according to the tribe. Also, the casino floor will be reconfigured for better access and include a new bar on the main floor.

"The main focus of our expansion and remodeling project is to increase customer satisfaction. Many of our changes are based on comments that our guests have made about features they'd like to see," General Manager Ron Pete said in a news release.

The estimated cost and square footage of the expansion were not made public. Construction is set to be completed by the spring of 2016. 


Gus Macker Bounces into Ludington This Weekend

One of the biggest weekends of the summer hits Ludington.  The Gus Macker basketball tournament with its 900 teams brings with it families, friends and people watchers.  On Friday registration is 1-8 p.m. at Lakeview Elementary, 502 West Haight St., Ludington. The event kicks off on Saturday morning WMOM radio will be broadcasting live that morning 10am - 12noon. Lots of local non-profits will be set up in Stearns park, filling our bellies with walking tacos, elephant ears and fresh squeezed lemonade.
