Polls are now open for August primaries. Local residents will have a choice between four candidates for 51st Circuit Court Judge. The candidates include Mason County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Spaniola, Lake County Prosecutor Craig Cooper, attorney Susan Sniegowski and Mason County defense attorney David Glancy. Two will move on and face each other in November elections. Two Mason County commission seats are also being sought after. In addition to candidates, residents will also have proposals to vote on. The major one being the millage increase request by the Mason-Oceana 9-1-1 service. They are asking voters, from both counties, to approve a six-year .14 mill tax levy to support the services and operations of 9-1-1. Other proposals include a Dial-A-Ride tax increase and a Meade Township millage. Polls are open until 8pm.
