Lake Winds Energy Park Tours (Thu. 1 Aug, 2013 6:00 am - Sat. 31 Aug, 2013 11:00 am)

Consumers Energy, in conjunction with the Ludington and Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce, will offer public tours of the Lake Winds Ener gy Park located in Riverton and Summit Townships. The tours will be offered through August 31st. Each tour will last approximately 90 minutes and will begin and end at the Ludington and Scottville Chamber of Commerce located at the Mason County Airport. The tour schedule and route are subject to change, but the schedule is as follows: Friday and Saturday at 10:30am, 12:30pm, and 2:30pm. Painting Classes (Wed. 7 Aug, 2013 6:00 am - 8:00 am)

Students entering 6th through 9th grade this fall, are invited to explore their artistic side at the Mason County District Library with a series of two-day classes presented through the generosity of the West Shore Art League. Students may register for ONE class only. Registration forms are available at the Mason County District Libraries in Ludington and Scottville. These classes are free but no-shows will be billed for supplies. Cancellations will be accepted up to 24 hours before the class begins.

Painting will be held Wednesday, August 7th from 10am to 12pm & Thursday, August 8th from 2-4pm at the Ludington Library.

Advance Directive Workshop (Wed. 7 Aug, 2013 9:30 am - 10:30 am)

Oakview Medical Care Facility is hosting an Advance Directive Workshop. Learn how to complete your own Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare. This event is free to the public. Materials will be provided and refreshments will be served. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, August 7th from 1:30 to 2:30pm at the Oakview Medical Care Facility on Diana Street. Annual Chicken BBQ (Wed. 7 Aug, 2013 9:30 am - 10:30 am)

St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Free Soil is having its Annual Chicken BBQ on Sunday, August 11th. Dinner will be served at noon. Cost is $9 for adults, $3 for children 10 and under, preschool children are free. Live music will be provided by Virgil Baker and the Just-4-Fun Band. There will also be children's games, homemade desserts, and a cash raffle with prizes totaling $1,000. Proceeds will go towards the upkeep of St. John Catius Parish.

Pentwater Township Library is hosting Tobin Buhk, author of True Crime Michigan, on Wednesday, August 7 at 7:00 P.M. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Pentwater.  His book is Great Lakes crime at its best…or worst. Tobin Buhk’s presentation will take you on a trip back through Michigan’s bloody past.  There will also be a collection of historic wanted posters to browse.  Free admission.
