Lake Winds Energy Park Tours

Consumers Energy, in conjunction with the Ludington and Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce, will offer public tours of the Lake Winds Ener gy Park located in Riverton and Summit Townships. The tours will be offered through August 31st. Each tour will last approximately 90 minutes and will begin and end at the Ludington and Scottville Chamber of Commerce located at the Mason County Airport. The tour schedule and route are subject to change, but the schedule is as follows: Friday and Saturday at 10:30am, 12:30pm, and 2:30pm. Traveling Animal Show

The Traveling Animal Show from John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids will visit the Mason County District Library in Ludington, Monday, August 5th for two shows at 1pm and 2:30pm. Human Trafficking Presentation

The P.E.O. Chapter FG of Ludington invites the public to a special program given by Carmen Kucinich, FBI Victim's Specialist, entitled Human Trafficking: Modern Day Slavery and Victim Assistance. This presentation focuses on domestic minor sex trafficking. This program will be held at the United Methodist Church of Ludington on Tuesday, August 6th from 7 to 8:30pm.

Students entering 6th through 9th grade this fall, are invited to explore their artistic side at the Mason County District Library with a series of two-day classes presented through the generosity of the West Shore Art League. Students may register for ONE class only. Registration forms are available at the Mason County District Libraries in Ludington and Scottville. These classes are free but no-shows will be billed for supplies. Cancellations will be accepted up to 24 hours before the class begins.

Painting will be held Wednesday, August 7th from 10am to 12pm & Thursday, August 8th from 2-4pm at the Ludington Library.

Annual Chicken BBQ

St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Free Soil is having its Annual Chicken BBQ on Sunday, August 11th. Dinner will be served at noon. Cost is $9 for adults, $3 for children 10 and under, preschool children are free. Live music will be provided by Virgil Baker and the Just-4-Fun Band. There will also be children's games, homemade desserts, and a cash raffle with prizes totaling $1,000. Proceeds will go towards the upkeep of St. John Catius Parish.

25th Annual Fish Fry/Boil

The Ludington Boat Club's 25th Annual Fish Fry/Boil and Auction will be held Saturday, August 17th from 1 to 7pm to benefit Hospice of Michigan. The event will include homemade desserts and a live auction which begins at 3pm. There will also be a silent auction throughout the day. This event is open to the public and suggested donations are $9 for adults and $5 for children.

Jewelry class will teach students how to make wearable art using basic metalsmithing tools and techniques. Students may bring an interesting object to incorporate into a ring or pendant.
