Job seekers and employers can connect with each other at the Michigan Virtual Career Fair
August 28 from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
at Northwest Michigan Works! Service Centers in Cadillac, Petoskey and Traverse City.

Within MiVirtualCareerFair, employers host exhibitor booths that include links to job postings, company profiles, employee benefits, and employer contact information, and allow job seekers to communicate one-on-one with company representatives. MiVirtualCareerFair will provide opportunities for live conversations between businesses and job seekers via instant chat and/or webcams. Job seekers will also be able to upload résumés for job listings.

Clay Classes

Students entering 6th through 9th grade this fall, are invited to explore their artistic side at the Mason County District Library with a series of two-day classes presented through the generosity of the West Shore Art League. Students may register for ONE class only. Registration forms are available at the Mason County District Libraries in Ludington and Scottville. These classes are free but no-shows will be billed for supplies. Cancellations will be accepted up to 24 hours before the class begins.

Explore a number of basic clay techniques while creating unique masks depicting our very own creatures. Clay class will be held on Thursday and Friday, August 29th and 30th from 9:30-11am and 1-2:30pm.

2013 Brethren Days

The 2013 Annual Brethren Days
Friday, August 30th through Sunday, September 1st.

The charge for admission on both Friday and Saturday evening is $3 per person.  Children 12 and under are free with an adult; however, no one under the age of 16 is allowed in after 9pm without adult supervision.  

All bands and entertainment will be performing under the gazebo in the Dickson Township Park. 
The Cook Shack will be open, as well as the Beer Tent. 

Other activities for the weekend include Softball Tournaments, a Poker Run, a Cardboard Boat Race, Kids Games & Basketball Skills Clinic, Arts & Crafts Show, a Chicken BBQ, the Grand Parade, and of course, a fantastic fireworks display on Saturday night at dusk.

"Fly and Remember"

Join the Hospice of Michigan for the "Fly and Remember" memorial service. Remember the fond memories you shared with your loved one by personalizing and flying a kite in their honor. Hospice of Michigan will provide all materials.

All families who have experienced the loss of a loved one are welcome.

"Fly and Remember" will be held Saturday, September 7th from 10am to noon at the Waterfront Park in Ludington.

Calendar Art Contest

Children of all ages are invited to create a seasonal drawing to decorate a calendar page. Winning designs will be printed and sold at the Mason County District Libraries in Ludington and Scottville. Winners will receive one of the calendars they helped create. Artists must use the back of the entry form.

Light Up The Sky 5K Fun Run

This event is a fundraiser for a new dishwasher for the Ludington Area Center for the Arts.

Social hour begins at 6:30pm and the dinner is at 7pm.

The cost is $50 for LACA members and $60 for non-members.
Tickets are limited so make your reservation by September 25th.

This is your chance to experience the charm of Pentwater by visiting 8 historical homes. 

 

Tickets with maps are $15 and can be purchased at the downtown Pentwater Chamber Office and they will be at each home and in front of the Hancock building on the day of event.

 

There will also be a used book sale and a 50/50 drawing with tickets on sale on Hancock.

at 8380 S. Tyndall Rd. in Carr Settlement, from 10am to 4pm.

Entrance fee is $5 per family.

There will be a spaghetti dinner following the event from 4:30 to 7pm at Carr's Hall.
Price is $10 per plate and kids 12 and under eat free.

The event will include camel rides, pony cart rides and horse drawn hay rides.

Autumn Days @ Historic White Pine Village

Autumn Days

an annual fall event on October 11th and 12th from 10am to 5pm, each day

All of the village's 30 museum sites and building will be open. 
Activities include the operation of hayrides, farmhouse cooking, one-room schoolhouse mini-sessions, and much more.

Admission price for Autumn Days is $11 for adults, $6 for kids, 5 and under are free, and $29 for whole family.

The village will close for the year on October 12th. Until that time, it is open Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 5pm.

Discovery Club

Children in 2nd through 5th grades are invited to join Discovery Club at the MCDL in Ludington, the first Wednesdays, every month, at 4pm. Retired teacher, Kathy Radtke, will lead students as they explore the world through books, games, art and other activities. This school year's theme is Discovering Michigan.

On Wednesday, November 6th, learn the story of the SS Badger Carferry and help create a huge mosaic wall mural. Each participant will receive a bag of treasures from the Lake Michigan Carferry Service.

Snacks will be provided.

"Monsters University"

Please bring a blanket or sleeping bag and pillow. The movie will be shown in the gym on the big screen. 
Doors open at 6:40pm.

There will be nachos, candy, water, popcorn and juice boxes available for purchase. A can good or non-perishable food items is requested for admittance with all items being donated to the Bread of Life Food Pantry. The DVD will be raffled off at the end of the showing. All proceeds from concessions will go towards a new movie license for the school year.

Benefit Softball Tournament

A Benefit Co-Ed Softball Tournament will be held November 9th and 10th for the Lake Family.

There is a $100 fee, per team, and all proceeds will go directly to the Lake Family Benefit Fund that has been opened at the West Shore Bank.

There will be a concession stand with items to purchase and items to raffle off.
