Several gas stations throughout the state have surpassed Michigan's record high gas price average.
Many stations are selling gas for $4.39 per gallon or more. The record high was in May 2011 with an average price of $4.26 per gallon. As of this morning, the lowest price reported was in Monroe County for $3.81. The highest prices were in Okemos and Romulus, with a price of $4.49. Yesterday, AAA Michigan put the average at $4.11... but today GasBuddy.com reports $4.15 as the average, and rising. The national average is currently at $3.62 per gallon. Refinery problems along the Great Lakes is said to be the cause of Michigan's high gas prices. At the moment, Michigan has the highest average gas prices in the country, following Hawaii.
