An Oceana County man is charged with fraud.
Upnorthlive.com reports Paul J. Rosse, owner of Paul's Towing in Hart, has been charged with common law fraud, a ten year felony, for setting up "ghost tows." According to the Oceana County Sheriff's Office, a ghost tow is a form of fraud where someone places a call to AAA for a tow, usually long distance. Once they get the request, they send a tow truck from their local facility... that being the suspect's company. Essentially, Rosse was collecting money for the call without having to send a truck. AAA reported the actions to the sheriff's office. Rosse has lost his contract with AAA and is out on a $5,000 bond.
