Norton Shores Robberies

Two robberies occur within an hour in Norton Shores.

According to Mlive.com, the thefts occurred yesterday, only two miles away from each other. The first robbery was just before 12:30am at Ozzie's Party Store on Broadway Avenue. An employee was approached by a Hispanic man, wearing a black bandana over his face, in the store parking lot. The suspect allegedly pointed a gun at the employee and demanded money. According to the Norton Shores Police Department, the suspect fled in a silver Chevy Blazer when the victim said he didn't have any money. The second robbery happened just before 1am at the Shell Gas Station on Grand Haven Road. The clerk states that a white man pointed a gun at him also demanding money from the register. When he left, he took off in a tan Chevy Blazer. Fruitport Township Police are also investigating to determine if the cases are related to a purse-snatching incident that occurred on Sunday at Wal-Mart in Fruitport Township. Anyone with information regarding these crimes is asked to call the Norton Shores Police Department at (231) 733-2691 or the Silent Observer at (231) 72-CRIME.
