Lawmakers in Michigan are trying to address the problem of bedbugs.
Currently, there is no law in place regarding the pests but health officials say bedbugs have increasingly become a problem over the years. The House introduced a four-bill package on Tuesday which outlines the responsibilities of landlords and tenants in dealing with the bugs. The bill also allows public health departments to order property owners to take care of an infestation, if one arises. In addition, the state plans on developing a model policy to prevent, manage and control bedbugs. The bills still have to be voted on.
