A Metro-Detroit man is charged with killing a bear in Manistee county. The Department of Natural Resources says 33-year-old James Early May, of Macomb County, killed the bear without a permit on November 16th.
The Manistee County Prosecutors Office issued a warrant and May was arrested at his home, last month. He was also charged with excessive use of deer bait. The bear was left to die in the woods and three cubs disappeared. If convicted, he faces up to 90 days in jail. He will be in court next on April 9th.
