The Michigan House approves naming a portion of a highway after Trooper Butterfield.
The legislation, sponsored by Representative Ray Franz, will name a section of M-116 in Mason County, the "Trooper Paul K. Butterfield II Memorial Highway." The stretch is along the Lake Michigan shoreline and leads to Ludington State Park. Butterfield was killed in the line of duty last September, in Custer Township. His killer, Eric Knysz, is expected to be sentenced in April. The bill is now on its way to the Senate.
