Michigan's unemployment rate is the fifth highest in the nation.
Data released by the U.S. Department of Labor shows Michigan placed fifth in jobless rate at 7.8%. This number is actually the best it's been in Michigan since May of 2008. Although the state has added more than 300-thousand new jobs since the downfall of the economy... it is still falling behind the nation. Rhode Island topped the list with 9.2% and North Dakota had the lowest unemployment rate at 2.6%.
