Legal Opinion Released in Shooting of William Jackson Marble

The names of the Michigan State Police Troopers involved in the shooting of William Jackson Marble last month, have been released. Mason County Prosecuting Attorney, Paul Spaniola released his legal opinion of the incident, this morning.

He has cleared any wrongdoing of Trooper James Luttrull and Trooper Alexander Hammerle. He has determined that the shooting of Marble by Trooper Luttrull, on January 14th, was legally justified. The eighteen-page legal opinion shows that Marble raised his semi-automatic handgun at the troopers when they came to his front door, following a domestic dispute call. Luttrull fired one shot at Marble after telling him to drop the weapon. Prosecutor Spaniola found that deadly force was reasonable in this situation.
