A bill that will protect thousands of acres of the Sleeping Bear Dunes is making progress.
According to UpNorthLive.com, the bill was passed yesterday by the House Committee on Natural Resources and will now make its way to the Michigan House for approval. If passed, just over 32-thousand acres will be preserved. County roads, historical sites and structures, access to the lake and the right to hunt and fish will all be protected under the bill. Opponents have argued that this could limit their area and what they can do on the land but supporters call this bill a win/win which will benefit the economy and the region.
