New Blight Laws in MI

A new set of laws will help Michigan communities clean up blight.

Governor Snyder signed a series of laws which will allow local governments to take criminal action against property owners who fail to pay blight fines. A government will be able to do such things as pursue misdemeanor charges, garnish wages, and foreclose on properties. Snyder said, in a news release, that blight is not just a visual problem but it reduces our property values which in turn makes it harder to bring more and better jobs to the state.
