The Benzie County woman accussed of trying to kill her daughter is competent to stand trial.
Kelli Stapleton is facing murder charges after trying to kill herself and her 14-year-old daughter in September. Stapleton placed two burning charcoal grills in the family van and closed the doors and windows with both of them inside. They were discovered unconscious by Stapleton's husband. The mother was ordered to undergo a competency evaluation before standing trial. A trial date has not been scheduled yet.
