19 Year old Eric Knysz, of Luther, who has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a Michigan State Police trooper will likely stand trial beginning February 18th in Mason County Circuit Court. Besides the murder of Trooper Butterfield he is facing other charges such as felony firearms, auto theft, and carrying a concealed weapon all related to the September 9th traffic stop. There are other charges awaiting him in Manistee County.
Sarah Knysz is scheduled for a hearing on November 5th and faces charges such as being an accessory after the fact to the murder of Trooper Butterfield and unlawful driving away of a vehicle.
Both are currently lodged in the Mason County Jail in Ludington.
