Charges are asked to be dropped against the defendants in the multi-county marijuana bust.
The Assistant US Attorney asked that charges be dropped against the 27 people as the investigation continues, cites Mlive.com. The reason for dropping charges include several types of evidence that still need to be reviewed, reports need to be submitted by multiple officers therefore it is not certain that the investigation will be completed for a grand jury review in 30 days. The group, Medical Marijuana Team, was using the state's medical marijuana law as a cover up to illegally manufacture and sell the plant. They were operating out of five different counties including Kent, Oceana, Muskegon, Grand Traverse and Ottawa. All the defendants were released on Friday on personal bonds.
