Eric Knysz is facing trial in both Mason and Manistee Counties.
Yesterday, Knysz waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Manistee, where he is being charged on firearms, theft and assault. His wife, Sarah's, attorney asked for a delay in the preliminary examination in regards to her motor vehicle theft charge. A new date will be scheduled in the next two or three weeks. The Manistee County charges are separate from the more serious charge of shooting the state police officer in Mason County. Mason County public defender David Glancy will represent Eric Knysz in Ludington. Both defendants have waived preliminary hearings in the local district court.
