Sean Michael Phillips has been charged with one count of open murder against his daughter, Baby Kate.
Attorney General, Bill Schuette, and Mason County Prosecutor, Paul Spaniola, along with other law enforcement officials, made the announcement at this afternoon's press conference. It was stated that new evidence has been discovered to lead to the charges, which carries a life sentence. Spaniola told the media that the evidence will come out at trial, and will not be discussed at this time. However, both Schuette and Spaniola say "we are convinced that we will get a conviction." Spaniola reached out to the Attorney General's office a year ago, saying he needed a fresh perspective on the case. 23-year-old, Sean Phillips, will be arraigned later today.
