A Pentwater Township woman is currently being treated at a psychiatric hospital in Grand Rapids. The 62-year-old attempted to enter Pentwater High School, yesterday morning, by telling school officials she was with law enforcement to inspect the cafeteria.
She was denied entry and left the building. The school went into lockdown and the School Liaison Officer went to investigate the situation. The woman drove off and led police on a high speed chase. Police stopped her by the State Street Bridge, where she was unable to cross, due to construction. She attempted to back over police cars but officials had her blocked. After being arrested, the woman was taken to Mercy Health for a psychological evaluation before being committed. Criminal charges are expected against her. Two patrol cars received minor damages and no officers were injured. The woman had no contact with any students.
