The names of the suspects in relation to the shooting of Michigan State Police Trooper, Paul Butterfield, have been released.
WZZM spoke with the father of the suspect, who confirmed it was his son in custody. 20-year-old, Eric Knysz, is in police custody at Munson Hospital, after getting injured during a shootout with police Monday evening. His 21-year-old pregnant wife, Sarah, is also currently being held. The couple lives in Irons. Knysz is known to have a criminal record, including two separate charges brought against him, this year, for weapons and domestic violence. An arraignment date will be held today for Sarah and tomorrow for Eric when he is released from the hospital. Five charges have been brought against him and two against her. Also, a candlelight vigil will be held for Trooper Butterfield on Saturday from 7-7:30pm at the Waterfront Park in downtown Ludington.
