The expansion of Medicaid in the state will be a positive thing for West Michigan.
Thousands of West Michigan residents will have access to health care… about 28,000 people in Kent County and about 10,000 in Muskegon. According to mLive.com, the CEO of Cherry Street Health Services, says that under the expansion, an individual can earn up to $15,000 and a family of four can receive $31,000. A Dr. from Mercy Health says in the long run, we will have a healthier community, because with people having access to care, it will help with early identification and management of diseases, such as diabetes. The proposal for Medicaid was passed by the Senate, yesterday, and will add coverage to nearly 500,000 people in Michigan. Implementation is expected April 1st of next year.
