The Senate could vote on the expansion of Medicaid today.
The Senate workgroup revised the plan so that coverage will be added to more people but with requirements on the individual, the health care provider and state agencies. The revised bill was presented yesterday and had much support unlike the old plan which less than 50% of the senate supported. If Medicaid expansion is passed, almost 500,000 additional people would have healthcare coverage... and the state can save hundreds of millions of dollars a year. Michigan will first need federal approval before the expansion.
