Three people in Wexford County are in custody after allegedly stealing components from a federal forest to make meth.
The suspects were pulled over for a traffic stop on Saturday in Branch Township before deputies linked the three to a string of thefts. Police discovered drug paraphernalia in the vehicle along with controlled substances used to manufacture meth. During the rounds of questioning, the suspects admitted to the larcenies and their involvement with the meth lab components. Search warrants by the Traverse Narcotics Team allowed police to search the vehicle and the campsite in the Huron-Manistee National Forest. All three were arrested on different charges but police say additional charges are expected as investigation furthers along.
