Woman to Face Prison Time for Drunken Car Theft

A Manistee woman is facing 2 to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing and operating an automobile while intoxicated... for the third time. Over the last 10 years Susan Kay Lewis has been arrested three separate times for drunk driving a stolen car and has chalked up a grand total of seven felony convictions dating back as far as 1988. When asked about the issue, Lewis's attorney claimed, "She realizes that she needs to address this matter." 

"Celebrating Success" Tonight in Scottville

Tonight in Scottville over 200 residents and local business owners will be gathered on Main Street for the second annual "Celebrating Success" event. From 4 - 7pm local businesses will be providing free hot dogs with chips and soda as well as a craft station for the kids and some exciting product giveaways. Local band "Cats and Jammers" will be back again this year performing live from Pocket Park during the celebration. Come out, bring the family, and join us in honoring and supporting some of Scottville's new businesses! 

Spectrum Health has Received Eleven Environmental Awards.

Practice Greenhealth has recognized Spectrum Health Systems for its outstanding environmental achievements in the health care sector. 
Among the awards the hospital received, a partner recognition award was given for maintaining a 10% recycle rate for the hospitals total waste stream. 
 
Greg Soper who heads up the materials management and plant operations departments, helped organize an area wide recycling program for electronic equipment last year. That program had local residents contribute 10 tons or 20,056 lbs of equipment that would have otherwise gone into landfills.

The Chamber Announces Two New Businesses

Two new businesses joined the Ludington and Scottville chamber of commerce yesterday. Biggby Coffee, which boasts itself as the fastest growing coffee franchise in the Midwest, is opening its doors in July. Integrity Business Solutions also joined the Chamber. IBS is a family owned Michigan based office supply company.
 
The Chamber also announced its launch of the LEADS network and support group for local businesses to m for referral relationships and help promote strategic partnerships within the business community.
