Woman Seriously Injured After Falling From Riding on Bumper; Driver Flees

A 26 year old Rothbury female sustained serious injuries in an accident near the village of Rothbury yesterday.  Michigan State Police report that she fell from a moving vehicle while riding on the front bumper area of her friends vehicle. The woman sustained serious injuries to her body. The 35 yr old driver and friend of the victim fled the scene prior to Michigan State Police arrival. The victim was transported to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon where she was admitted.

Troopers were able to find and locate the female driver and the vehicle regarding the incident. She was arrested and lodged at the Oceana County Jail.

The crash is still under investigation but alcohol appears to play a factor.

        

The City of Ludington Leaf Pick-Up Will Start Oct 20th

The city is gearing up their annual leaf pickup. Public works will have several crews out picking up leaves October 20th.

·         Curbed streets rake leaves into the gutter

·         All other streets, rake leaves to the edge of street

·         Keep leaves in a row, do not place your leaves behind mailboxes or trees, equipment cannot reach these areas

·         Broken limbs/brush should not be placed on leaf piles

·         Please park cars off the street when leaf piles are in the area

Half-Staff Today to Honor Firefighter

The Ludington Library is flying its American flag at half-staff today. This is an order from Governor Rick Snyder to honor a longtime Muskegon County Firefighter who died last week after having a heart attack.

Richard Crosby Sr. a 67 yr old responded to a medical call in Casnovia Township Thursday evening. A few hours later after returning home Crosby went into Cardiac arrest. His death is considered in the line of duty because it happened within 24 hours of the call.  

Cardiac arrest is the number  one cause of death for firefighters.

Along with American flags being flown at half staff today Crosby who spent 44 years serving the community will receive a heroes funeral.
